The Baseball Writers Association of America is a group comprised of incompetent morons. Josh Beckett had a much better year then CC Sabathia! Their ERA's were just about the same (3.27 for Beckett, 3.21 for Sabathia) and Sabathia had way more strikeouts. Meanwhile, beckett led the league in wins, had a better opponent batting average, and basically carried the Red Sox starting rotation. CC Sabathia didn't carry the Indians, he had Fasto Carmona, another 19 game winner, to help him out. The writers had to submit their ballots at the end of the season, and now they all look like idiots. In the ALCS, Beckett beat Sabathia twice!
