I'm still here

Dear Bruins Nation,

Your president has not left. I've been here all along keeping tabs on the Boston Bruins. Nothing has really happened since the Toivonen trade that has been worth posting and I've gotten very lazy over the summer. The only thing that has happened in Bruins Nation is that Stan Chistov won't be back as he is playing in Europe next season.

However, in the overall Boston Sports Nation, a lot has happened. The Patriots are currently 1-2 in the Preseason, and the Red Sox are still in first place. At the trade deadline the Red Sox acquired former cy young winner Eric Gagne. Even though Gagne hasn't really been pitching well, he will be a big part of the relief staff come October. Meanwhile this summer Celtics Nation has really been buzzing. The Boston Celtics picked up Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett. So basically if all goes how it should the Red Sox, Patriots, and Celtics will win their respective championships. Now the pressure is on Peter Chiarelli, Claude Julien, and the 2007-2008 Boston Bruins to remain competitive in the minds of Boston sports fans. Now loyal members of Bruins Nation will always be fans, but since the lockout Bruins Nation has been shrinking and the average Boston sports fan hasn't been checking on the Bruins scores daily. If this year the Bruins are the ONLY bad team in Boston, it will look very bad. Now on paper the Bruins are a great team, and we will soon find out if Julien can do what Lewis could not. I hope all of Bruins Nation had a great summer.

Yours Truly,
the President of Bruins Nation
